Mr. Khondkar Majidul Islam

Mr. Khondkar Majidul Islam was born in 1937, obtained his Master of Engineering in Water Resources at Bangkok in 1965.
He had a wide range of job experience, both in Bangladesh and abroad. He worked for the Government of Bangladesh, Government of Malaysia from 1974 to 1985 as Engineer and Senior Lecturer at the prestigious Malaysian Institute of Technology (MIT). Mr. Islam then moved to Brunei and worked for the government until 1995. He then moved to the United States, where he worked with the State of California until taking final retirement in 2012.
Khondkar Islam had wide ranging experience. He was: Member, Study Team for Water Sharing with India; National Secretary, International Commission of Large Dams (ICOLD); National Secretary, International Hydrological Program (IHP); Member, Remote Sensing of Agriculture, Ecosystems and Hydorlogy. In addition, Mr. Islam had professional affiliations with: 1) Chartered Engineer (UK), 2) American Society of Civil Engineering, 3) A Corporate Member, Bangladesh, 4) Malaysia, Brunei and Australian Engineering societies.
Mr. Islam presented technical papers in various seminars in Pakistan and Bangladesh, his special interests being Particle Physics and Cosmos. Apart from writing many articles and essays on his professional subjects, he authored three books on Islamic faith.
In youth, he had been a keen sportsman, becoming Champions in Cross Country Running and Swimming Competitions. Enjoys reading, writing, gardening and travelling. He actively involved himself in community activities, in addition to perusing his personal interests in Islamic activities, reading, writing, gardening.
His wife, a former teacher, is equally active in community activities. They have three wonderful sons, the older being a physician and the others engineers.
